Hello Michal,

Inside this link you will find some info about Yate SS7 and the
implementation way to do so.

http://yate.ro/pmwiki/index.php?n=SS7.Implementation

As for you question about licensing in Cisco here is how it goes in a small
list of what you will need to run voice on Cisco AS5350:

0) DSP card in slots (named NPxxx) (check "show chassis" command)

1) XXXX.spe firmware to control DSP card (licence required)

2) IOS image to include all voice capabilities you need to implement
(licence required)

3) integrated SLT function on AS5350 requires special IOS including
this feature (licence required)

In order to download the spe and IOS you will need PICA (
 Cisco Partner Initiated
Customer Access).

Take a close look also in mailing archives you will find some info,
instructions about SS7 implementations and problems to work around with YATE
to have a snip

Subject: [yate] Yate + AS5350

Hello,

is there anybody running Yate + Cisco AS5350 for SS7 / SIP translation,

voice and T.38 .. ? I'm thinking about using this setup, but I cannot

find some answers about it, so I'd like to ask somebody who is using

this setup....

Can I expect reliable operation without any issues, if I use this

configuration ? I'm setting SS7 interconnect with one telco peer, +-

10x E1 lines, in 6 locations. Two locations will have signalling

channel, redundant.

Can I use AS5350 with data-only license for this, or it has to have

ENHVOX license? And the same about the FR535-SLT-LIC, which (if I

understand Cisco docs correctly) is license for terminating SS7

signalling link directly in the AS5350 and translating it into IP

protocol, without need for external router for signalling... Is the

license or external router necessary for SLT functionality? I have read,

that these licenses are only written entry on the invoice and have no

impact on operation. Does the license matter?

Thank you!

Regards,

Michal Rybarik
